They say that spring is a time of new beginnings so I guess I'm doing that too. Incidentally this is also the first time I've ever written a blog post so there's that. I've been maintaining this website (and the server it runs on) for quite some time now, using it run a few foundry instances for example.
The biggest thing that's been running on it is the Sci-Fi Creator DB, of all things. It started from a personal need to have a list of people who make VTT assets for tabletop RPGs set in contemporary and/or Sci-Fi settings because, as it turns out, they're actually hard to track down sometimes. Sharing this list sort of came as an afterthought but here we are.
The Present
Is today (technically yesterday at the time of writing) really a relaunch? I suppose not. Nothing user-facing has really changed, though I did spend a considerable amount of time ripping out the old backend and adding a new one.
I also moved the server I use for hosting. It used to live on AWS Lightsail but thanks to some recommendations by friends I ended up switching to Hetzner. This isn't an ad or something, but their cost-value propostion looked a lot better than Lightsail and the feature set seems to be on par, and to be honest, I'd much rather give my money to a european company rather than the US Megacorp.
The Future
Where do I go from here? I am unsure. I've been wanting to have a blog for quite some time but whether I'll post much on it remains to be seen.
Something that will definitely happen are continous improvements. I'm not super happy about the blog post list and the layout of each post could use some work as well.
The End (for now)
That's all folks! Have a nice day and please enjoy this picture of a bumblebee I took the other day. I couldn't decide on a hero/header image so have this instead.
